Introduced to the market in 1977 the Lada Niva was the first mass-production off-road vehicle to combine independent front suspension with uni-body construction. This was a winning formula & inspired other manufacturers such as Suzuki who designed the Vitara in a similar manner.

The Lada Niva is now the longest 4x4 vehicle of its type to be in continuous production.
