Land Rover Series 1/2/3

Land Rover, the British answer to the American made Jeep was produced in Solihull, England between 1948 to 1985. Due to shortages of materials following WW2 it was designed to be of simple construction & temporarily supplement Rovers standard car range. However, the Land Rover turned out be a huge success & was soon outselling all of Rovers other products.

Land Rover Defender

The Defender originally know as 90 or 110 referring to the wheelbase, followed on the heels of the Series 1, 2 & 3 in 1983 when production stopped. The Defender carried on the success of the previous series & only stopped production in 2016 due to a variety of international vehicle regulations that prevented it being sold in many countries.

Although production re-started in 2020, the new vehicle was constructed in a completely different way in order to meet current safety laws.

Range Rover

Now known as the Range Rover Classic, this ground breaking vehicle was launched in June, 1970 to much critical acclaim. It was generally thought to be the best on / off road 4x4 of its time giving superb capability over rough terrain coupled with a comfortable & powerful on road performance.

The Range Rover came with a full range of gasoline / diesel engine options, the most powerful being the well proven Rover 4.2 V8.

Land Rover 101FC

Although the Land Rover 101 Forward Control was originally designed for use by the British army many examples have now gone on to be prized in both civilian & commercial sectors due to its rugged construction & excellent off road performance.

The 101FC was only in production between 1972 to 1978 & used the Rover 3.5 V8 engine.
