Suzuki started production of the Jimny LJ (Light Jeep) in 1971 & was an instant success. The Jimny name is still used today for the latest models & nearly 3 million have been sold to worldwide markets.

There are a variety of alternatives to the Jimny name, it was first marketed as the Samurai in USA, Eljot in Germany, Stockman in Australia & Sierra in Japan.

Suzuki Vitara

The Vitara was first introduced in 1988 & was designed to be the big brother to the Jimny. In Japan it was known as the Escudo & in America was the Sidekick.

There were several variants of engines & body styles available during its 10 year production run including gasoline or diesel engines of various capacities & a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes.
