Austin Champ

The Austin Motor Company manufactured the Champ (also known as the FV1801, WN1, WN2, WN3) from 1951 to 1957, most were produced for the armed forces in Britain.

Developed from a military vehicle called The Mudlark it was the British version of the Jeep & had a 2838cc engine originally designed & built by Rolls Royce. Production stopped in 1956 to give way to the more versatile Gipsy.

Austin Gipsy

Manufactured by the British Motor Corporation from 1958 to 1968 the Gipsy was the successor to the Austin Champ & had a choice of either 2199cc petrol or 2178cc diesel engines.

The Gipsy was originally designed to compete with the Land Rover but after BMC was taken over by British Leyland who manufactured the Land Rover it was dropped after over 21,000 vehicles had been sold.
